Taggie doesn't like rubber bands!

SO....Taggie came running to me because his Papa is SOOOOO mean to him!

It started with Dan pretending to pop Tag with the rubber band. Tag would lean his head away like "Papa, please don't pop me". Dan didn't...instead he decided to put a "bracelet" on Tag. Dan put the rubber band around Tags front leg. Tag in no time decided to take it off. He grabs ahold of the rubber band and PULLS!!! Then LETS GO!!! All I can hear is POP! Dan starts laughing and takes it off Taggies leg. Then Taggie runs to my side like..."Mama, Mama save me". He is still sitting next to me 30 minutes later. While also giving the constant stink eye to Dan.

Poor Tag!

(No animals were harmed in the making of this blog post!)

J. Parrish Pottery

So, the car is HERE! After a crazy car drama filled week we finally have the car. We picked it up Friday at about 6:30 with a total of 7 miles on it! Here are some pictures...they aren't the best but hopefully I will get a better picture later! Or you could come visit and I will take you for a spin :)
Here is some pottery that I just got back this past week:

Blue and Yellow Green mug that holds about 1.5 cups. Its pretty big. I'm still trying to find the perfect coffee mug size!

Orange and Turquoise mug that holds about 1.5 cups.

This is a small bowl. Probably holds about 3/4 of a cup of stuff. Its color is blue and yellow green.

This is one of the neatest bowls I have made! The colors just came out PERFECTLY! This is a medium sized bowl and holds about 4 or 5 cups...I'm only guessing it might be a little bigger.

This is a tray I made for Tommie. It didn't really come out like I had planned. Its color is light blue.
There is a sale in November through the Arkansas Arts Center that me and mom are thinking about participating in. You should mark your calendars NOW and come visit me :) AND buy something! I'm gonna stick to making stuff and hope I can keep getting better and faster at producing "saleable" items. If that happens, I am thinking about starting a website to display my work! That's probably a couple years down the road but I've already thought of the website...JParrishPottery.com...original huh?

Last but not least, its the TAG!!! He didn't want me to take his picture because he was focused on going for a walk. So this is the best picture I could get! He is doing good and I have nothing to report on the Tag Front at this time! So, for now you are going to have to listen to stories about me :)

NEW CAR!

We bought a new car today!!! YEAH! I am so glad the old car is gone. It was about to break down at any minute...at least thats what it felt like.

I think with this car we won't wait until 124000 miles to get a new one! (Yet another lesson learned)

Well, we bought a new car today but we don't get the car until Tuesday or so. It just got "born" and its being delivered to me. So, I will post a picture when we get it!

We ended up with a Honda Civic. I have been wanting to go back to a small car and when we drove it, the car was so nice and perfect. Good gas mileage, great reliability and awesome resale value! How could we go wrong??? We could even shove a couple kids back there if we wanted to ;)

But I did realize one thing today...I HATE CAR DEALERSHIPS! I'm not sure who likes them but if you do, you are crazy and I will pay you to buy my next car! It was the worst experience! I felt like I got a good deal at one moment but then I realized that no deal is a good deal and they will always get the better deal. So, who knows if it was good, I'm hoping it was but I'm guessing it probably wasn't. :( I really don't see the need in haggling...it wasted so much of my time today...I should have charged them. Now that I think of it, I'm sending them a bill first thing monday for wasting my time ;)

They come in threes

So, everything seems to happen in three's. Why is that? When something breaks, everything else breaks. Its like they had a pack to do it at the same time.

Its been a pretty crazy week for me and dan. Dan started a new rotation and he has to be at work at 4:30AM! And I have been handling all the breaks around the house!

First, our oven stopped working. The stove top still worked so we were able to cook but its odd not having an oven. I have come to realize that we use the oven more then I thought. So, yesterday we bought a new oven and it gets here next Wednesday. (The oven repair guy wanted $420 to fix an 11 year old oven...I'm no genius but I didn't think that was a very good deal!)

Second, my car decided to start shaking violently and the "service engine soon" light came on. I learned from past experience that getting this checked as soon as possible is the best thing to do. (Side bar: In my "younger" days, I ignored it thinking it was just a suggestion. I quickly realized it wasn't. As I was driving down the highway at 70 MPH one day on my way to dallas to visit some friends, my car just died...yeah is was weird...everything just stopped and the car just kept rolling until it stopped. And I the learned/realized that alternators are really important to a car...and VERY expensive!) Anywho, I took the car in and they did a "test" and found that NOTHING was wrong. The service engine soon light "code" was something about a #2 misfire...whatever. So they tried to get me to "flush the fuel stuff" (as you can see I'm great with cars) but I remembered some "dateline like" show in the past warning of dealers trying to add cost with this fuel flush stuff. So I passed and its been working just fine since...knock on wood! We are in the process of looking for a new car...wish us luck. And if you want to donate a car, we are willing to take almost anything that works :)

Lastly, our tub is "special" and has to be repaired every year it seems. Its an "easy" fix and it is really cheap. But it just sucks that it always breaks. AND its something we can do ourselves. So, after buying the parts it will only cost us about 5 bucks to fix it. That is MUCH cheaper then the oven and even just fixing the car. Not to mention buying a car.

Alright, so I might be complaining/venting. But its been a stressful week...or do I dare say "Its been a busy week"????

Side note about the car: Dan and I went to test drive a car yesterday. The car didn't "speak" to me so we were going to test out some other cars. I was trying to leave and the dude was still trying to sale us a car. $500 above "invoice" is what he offered. But what is invoice? I hear the "trusty" sales guys fib about "invoice". Anyways, if you have any advice on how to get the best deal on a car...I'm all ears. I did learn today that you shouldn't tell them you have a trade-in until after the sale...oops...I messed up at my first attempt!

Taggie Update: I think with all the stress around the house last night his tummy got upset. He woke me up at 2:12 this morning with the "booty bump". He went outside and he ate some grass. He seems to be back to normal today. So all is good with the Taggie! As for the "booty bump", Taggie is very good at this technique. He will get into bed, between me and the edge of the bed and constantly reposition himself. As he does it, he bumps me and its his booty that is usually touching me so thats where it got its name, booty bump. I think he is wanting me to get up to let him out but most of the time he doesn't get out of bed after me. So, I'm thinking he just wants my warm spot! This morning though, I think he just needed to go outside because he doesn't normally join me until my alarm clock goes off...that I know of!

Random: We don't have much grass in our yard for Tag to eat when he does need it so I looked online and Petco sales this thing where you can grow grass. I'm going to try and get it this weekend. He won't have to wake me up in the middle of the night for some grass...he can just help himself!! We will see if he likes it.

Pottery Time

Lets start off with the cutest doggie in the WHOLE world:
And a short story: Not sure if you aware, but mosquito's LOVE me. I am very tasty to them. I have proof I am smart because they are trying to eat my brain! So, I was outside for about 3 minutes today and this happened: (Yes mom, I was using that thing you gave me...Didn't seem to work for my face! LOL) Mom gave me this portable Off bug thing and I was trying it out. After Dan saw this on my head, I had to go inside for fear of being eattin alive!

And now the pottery: I have some new pottery to share! Here are my favs over the past few months. Please let me know if you want anything. I will make anything you see here again if you pay me ;)

Guess Who????

I'M BACK!!!! Miss me???? Lets assume you have. I have been "busy"...isn't that what everyone says? "I'm SO sorry I haven't called/blogged I've been SOOOOO busy." I'm not sure I get this but hey, its accepted and we ask no questions and take no offence for that person "ignoring" us. I try not to use the excuse because its not really true. Am I truly busy? No, usually I'm just am so "busy" watching reality TV, I forget to call or keep in touch with people. Anywho, I have been busy.

I'm still busy but I am going to try and blog again. Lets see how it goes!

Speaking of reality tv, if anyone is interested in following me and Dan around for a reality tv show, we are willing! You know how to reach me ;) We don't have 18 kids but we have a really cute dog!

Also, lately I have been trying to figure out what to do "when I grow up". If you have any suggestions, let me know. Tommie and I have talked about opening a "Paper and Pottery" store, so if you are interested in funding our shop...let me (or her) know!

Work is okay. I am now officially apart of the Verizon Wireless team. They are "looking" for me some projects and I am "patiently" waiting. I'm hoping for big things to come. I think I found the end of www and its not that exciting...trust me!

Tag is good. He has been "busy" too! Actually, we have taught him to speak over the past couple weeks. Who ever said you can't teach an old dog new tricks...so wrong! (Dan....I can't believe you ever doubted the poo!) Side note, as you can see to the right, one of Tags nicknames is poo. Its really funny when we have to go home to let out the dog...we say, "We have to go home and let the poo out"....funny, huh?

The boys are back from their walk. I'll be back tomorrow :)

More Life Lessons...

So, me and Dan seem to have a knack for attracting scammers and horrible magazine companies! Not sure how we do it...but we do it very well :)

Here is the latest scam: "Easy Saver"

If you have ever bought flowers from Pro-Flowers BEWARE! I was reviewing our credit card bill yesterday.

(LONG SIDE NOTE: It was the first time I had looked at it in a long time. So long, I didn't even know the online login info. I now know it is advantageous to review it more often then I have...so, in the future I will look at it MUCH more often. Also, Dan is in charge of paying the credit card bill every month so I didn't ever worry about it. I'm not really into looking at this kinda stuff....BUT, my life lesson is...Even though I don't like doing something doesn't mean its okay to not do it!!!)

I found a charge on the bill from "Easy Saver 800#######" on 2/18 for a charge of $14.95. I was not familer with "easy saver" and I figured it was something dan had bought. I asked him and he had not heard of it before. So, he called the number and we found out it was some kinda subscription. As he is talking to "Easy Saver" aka "Easy Scammer" I started to google the name and number. The first thing that came up was a forum about people talking about getting scammed from this company. I thought..."OH LORD, how long has this been going on???" (Like I said, its be a LONG time since I have looked at our credit card statement.) I could not find a website for "Easy Saver" either....I was starting to get very worried! I am looking through all of our past statements and I get to 2/13/2008....yes, more then a year ago....and I found when the charges started! Dan called me after talking to the company. He had canceled the subscription and got a refund for two months. I was like TWO MONTHS....They have been charging us for a YEAR! So, it was time for me to swoop in for the kill. I called "Easy Saver" and they would only give us a refund for 8 months. I settled and accepted defeat....at least we got that much back. I also asked "Easy Saver" what they did...they say they give discounts on travel and restaurants, etc. I started reading on the internet more about "Easy Saver" and found out it is associated with Proflowers. If you buy flowers and sign up for a $15 discount coupon, you automatically get enrolled in a subscription to easy saver. Dan is the flower buyer in our house and he doesn't remember doing this...again, it was a year ago and alot has happened since then! Anyways, it really makes me mad that Proflowers gave our credit card info to this company...We did not authorize this AT ALL! It was some trick and fine print. We supposedly got login info in an email...which we could not find! Again, everything seems VERY fishy. As I continue to read about this scam on the internet I found a lady in my similar situation that got a full refund. I was like...okay, I'll try this too! I called Proflowers and told them about what happened. I also informed Proflowers that we would never use Proflowers again! Proflowers called "Easy Saver" and got me a full refund! YEAH!!! In the end, it all worked out and we will be getting our $200 back. But there is one more fishy piece to the refund..."Easy Saver" will be paying us back over two credit card statements...interesting. Well, its not over because we have not gotten any money back...I'll keep you updated!

In the end, I learned its important to keep track of your finances more closely. I'm still not going to balance my check book BUT I am going to start using Quicken Online. So far its pretty cool...and it free! Well, this kinda takes me full circle because isn't the "free" stuff what got me into trouble in the first place....But, at least I can find the Quicken website and thats more then I can say for "Easy Saver"!

Also, if you have ever bought flowers from Proflowers...you might want to check your statement for "Easy Saver".

........................................................

Scam #2...They just keep coming!

Dan has a subscription to Men's Health...the reason I had signed up for Women's Health...Because they have some great info! Well, Dan got some workout books in the mail. He did not remember buying them or signing up to receive them. The info said that they were associated with Men's Health and if you did not want the books to send them back by X date and you will not be charged.

Well, not to big of a deal...just a hassle to take them to the post office. Dan took them back and mailed both books in the same package back to the company. We ended up getting a bill for one of the books. Very confused as to why we got charged Dan attempted to call the company. This is where things got interesting. The company that sent us the books has a feature that if there are no customer reps available, the call will just end. You can't wait on hold and you just have to keep trying back. I have never heard of this before. Anyways, after a couple of days of trying to call, Dan FINALLY got through. He explained that he had sent back both books in the same package and did not understand why we were charged for one. They claim they didn't get it. Well, the customer rep decided to take the charges for the other book off and we ended up not paying anything. So, again, in the end we are not out any money but WHAT A HASSLE!

Dan found out that when he renewed his subscription, there is a little box you have to check to be unsubscribed from this book service. WHAT???? I'm sorry, but that is a horrible business model! You should have to opt in...not opt out! Horrible! Anyways, we are canceling our subscription to Men's Health too. I would like to caution everyone out there...Men's Health and Women's Health have scammers working there and they are just trying to get your money!

.............................................

Will we ever get a break? I don't understand what we are doing to attract all of the scammers! I hope one day we will figure it out.

Life lessons learned:
-ALWAYS read the fine print
-Look at your credit card statements more then once a year
-Always get a tracking number when returning things to a company

Clean Teeth

Taggie has clean teeth! On Tuesday he had his yearly teeth cleaning. He has to take some antibiotics because of his inflamed gums but besides that its all good news. Last time he had to get two teeth pulled...He got to keep all his teeth this time! Go Taggie! ....I wonder what would happen if I only cleaned my teeth once a year!....just kidding :)

I would post a pic of the pearly whites...but he is upstairs asleep on our bed! Must of had a long day ;)

Life has been pretty uneventful lately. I'm still decluttering. The other day I ended up recycling about 50 magazines. I had them because I thought I would look at them again some day....Well, i finally decided it was time to let go and it felt really good! I keep telling myself...A little at a time and it will soon be all gone :)

Also, pottery has started back and I have some great pieces. I just have to glaze them and I will post some pics. I love pottery...I wish I could do that full time and pay the bills....I'm just not that good! Maybe one day.

Well, I hope everyone had a wonderful valentines day! Dan and I sure did. We celebrated at Dan's grandma's house...It was her 85th birthday :) We had a blast!

Tales of The Chewy

Taggie got two chewys today...He's just a sweet little boy! But I do believe he was a bit confused as to if he really could eat the second chewy.

Dan and I were cooking (Parmesan Crusted Tilapia, Asparagus and rolls). Tag was in the dining room eating his two chewys under the table...like always...then, all the sudden we look over at Taggie carrying one of the chewys in his mouth. (I didn't have my camera at this point) After we looked at him, he went back to the dining room. It was cute but we really didn't think much of it. A few minutes later, Taggie showed up again...chewy in his mouth....we looked at him and he we back to the dining room. Very funny. He came back one more time and I decided it was time to go get my camera.

Tag decided he wanted to just stay on the stairs and watch us cook...One eye on us...One eye on his chewy!
He put the chewy down for just a couple seconds....
He was getting a little suspicious of all the pictures, so he ran to our bedroom....I followed. (You can't tell, but this is our bedroom!)
He ended up following me down stairs. It was time for dinner so we really didn't pay attention to him. He wasn't in the kitchen...which isn't abnormal...so, we figured he was eating his chewy somewhere.

Dinner was over so we headed to the living room to continue watching the Super Bowl. This is where he had decided to "hide" his chewy and we foiled his plans!

As of right now, he is laying next to me on the couch asleep and his chewy is just below him on the floor! Who knows when he will eat it.

Here are some more cute pics of the Tag today. He was just a super happy puppy today!

He was really asking for that chewy after this picture ;)
